SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— This week, KCBS’ Food and Wine Editor Narsai David recommends three appealing wines at appealing prices.

Eagle Castle Winery’s 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles in Southern California has a “lush, deep, garnet color” full of ripe cherry and chocolate aroma.

“The last few years in the bottle have really mellowed this into a ready to drink wine, perfect with any red-meat dish; particularly lamb,” David said.

He also tried Monterey County’s Clos LaChance 2010 Chardonnay and described it as having an herbal, toasty, fresh-baked bread aroma with hints of spice and pineapple.

KCBS’ Narsai David Reports:

He liked the acidity and said it was fermented to show off those very qualities.

“A nice balance on the palette at a very pleasing price,” he said.

Finally he took a taste of the same winery’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Central Coast.

Deep, rich-crimson color with bright fresh-fruit blackberry aromas leads to a delicious mouthful he said.

“Here’s a wine that could age for a couple of years, but would be fine right now with barbeque or a rich pasta meat sauce,” David raved commenting that the price was nice.
